What is a Blanket Coat?

Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like—a coat made from a blanket. When you sign up, you’ll receive a list of resources with links to find the perfect blanket for you within the parameters of what’s required for the class.

What supplies will I need?

  • A Felted Wool Blanket

  • A Tapestry (Yarn) Needle

  • Yarn

  • Straight Pins

  • Tailor’s Chalk

  • Fabric Scissors

  • A Little Stack of Paper

  • Pencil or Pen

  • A coat that you like the fit of (This will be used for exploratory purposes and modeling. It won’t be cut or anything.)

    Helpful Optional Tools

  • A straight edge of some type—T-square, yard stick, etc.

  • Magnet for holding straight pins

  • Mirror

Are supplies included in the workshop price?

No. You’ll purchase your blanket & supplies for class separately, but I’m available for support. You’ll get a resource list to help you find everything you need with ease, and can ask any questions you have too. Find your full supply list with links in the class portal after registering.

Why don’t we meet until January?

I want to make sure you have plenty of time to collect your supplies, and given the holidays are just around the corner, this seemed like the best choice.

When you need to get dressed but best you can do is wrap yourself in a blanket—now you can do both.

Program Overview

This program meets live and recordings will be available once complete.

The live session is designed for you to be well. There is no wrong way to participate and I expect that you’ll take care of yourself. Stretch, eat, cook, be on camera, be off camera—you decide.

Come with what you have and go after what you want.

If you can’t attend any sessions live, there will be a place to write questions and have them answered in the next session so you can get your answers in the recording.

In This Program You’ll:

  • Learn how to design a unique blanket coat.

  • Learn how to assemble your blanket coat.

  • Explore a fluid style of clothing construction not using a pattern.

  • Finish a one-of-a-kind winter coat!

Community Care within Capitalism

Pay What You Can Pricing Model

Community care is at the center of my work in this world—which means we all win together. My workshops and programs are financially designed to focus on us as a community rather than as siloed individuals. The ‘pay what you can model’ is an invitation to consider how you exist within the whole, and how you can use what you have to seed acts of social equity. Here’s how it works:

Full price for this program is $180, however sliding scale starts at just $85.

  • There are guidelines below for determining what you choose to pay.

  • This model is built on the balance of time & money. The closer to full price you pay, the less time you spend building reciprocity, and vice versa.

  • To create equity when paying below full price, spend time to invite your community to the program. Consider how you and the people you know could add up to a full priced ticket across multiple people. This allows you all access the content at a price you all can afford while ensuring I too am cared for in the process.
This isn’t about posting once on social media and calling it quits. Community Care requires care from both of us.

When participating in this system, the goal is to create reciprocity.
